The youngest pupils at King’s House School have their own building in Princes Road, just a stone’s throw from the Junior and Senior Departments on Kings Road. The Nursery Department is found in The Old School House, an attractive Victorian building with high ceilings and large open plan classrooms that provide the perfect environment for Early Years education.

On the first floor you will find the Caterpillar group (children aged 3 and rising 3) in their own homely, cosy and welcoming room.
The room is carefully planned and extensively resourced to provide an exciting environment where young children can use their imagination to create and discover. Staff are exceptionally caring and nurturing, understanding that for most children (and their parents) this is the first rung on the educational ladder.

In the Caterpillar group, our main focus is to help children become independent, to feel confident in a group environment and to be kind and thoughtful to others. In addition to outdoor play in one of the Nursery playgrounds, the Caterpillar group have their own soft play equipment, a very popular feature. There is a maximum of 24 children in the Caterpillar classroom.

“In the EYFS, each child has a key person, who is committed to providing a happy, caring and purposeful environment for the children within their care.”
