Extra Curricular

At King’s House the children are encouraged to engage in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, covering Music, Sport, Drama and the Arts.

Nearly two hundred children learn musical instruments at school and every term around thirty of them take and are successful at their grade exams. We offer a wide range of musical groups too; choirs and singing groups in Years 1, 2, 3, 4 as well as a joint Year 5 and 6 group and a Chamber Choir. There are numerous instrumental ensembles too; Jazz Band, Wind Band, Brass Group, Senior Strings, Junior Strings and Classical Guitar – something for everyone!

Sport plays a key role in the life of King’s House and we are fortunate to have a well-staffed PE and Games department and excellent facilities. We have our own 35-acre site in Chiswick, which we are seeking to develop further for the benefit of the pupils here and in the community.

All boys from Year 3 upwards are engaged in fixtures at the grounds and all do games there from Year 1 upwards.

At school we boast a newly-refurbished gym with a climbing wall, cricket net and basket hoops, an astroturf pitch and an all-weather surface playground suitable for hockey and basketball.

On the performance side, all the children from Nursery to Year 8 have the opportunity to perform in school productions. From Nursery nativities to Year 8 musicals, these productions take place throughout the year and provide all the pupils with the chance to be on stage and perform. Recent senior productions include, Macbeth, Oliver! and The Canterbury Tales.

There is a wide range too of lunch-time and after school clubs for the boys. Music Technology, Computer animation, Cross Country, Judo and Chess to name a few.

The extensive programme of outings and trips to support the pupils’ learning is also a key part of the extra-curricular side of the school, as are the residential trips the boys do from Year 4 upwards. Particularly popular are the school’s biannual ski-trip, sports tours and Classics trip to Rome and Sorrento.
